It’s good luck to burn a Dragon! Kinetics Colorado – The sea monster dream was the result of two experiences with large scale sculpture. First, a large beach sculpture burn at the birthplace of Kinetics, Arcata, California. Then, I went to Burning Man via invitation from Rouse Mouse. These experiences helped me understand the beauty of the transformation of a static wood sculpture to a crackling inferno.

During this years Kinetics event planning, bonfires were brought up as warming stations for the Solstice swimmers. I asked if we could create and burn a sculpture, too. After some discussion, the sculpture moved to the water on a floating platform and would be ignited at the end of the event.
