1. Get new cat toys
The indoor version of hunting is playing. Buy toys that look and feel like prey. Keep this in mind when you play too. Cats are hunters!
2. Include yourself in playtime
Cats prefer human interaction to other stimuli, including food and toys. If you want your cat to play, play with him!
3. Make it a routine
Cats are creatures of habit. They LOVE routine. Create a play sessions schedule that works for both of you and stick to it!
4. Get creative
Cats get bored easily. Change it up if your cat doesn’t want to play. Use a different toy or think about different ways to use the toys. Keep your cat’s wild side in mind!
5. Be patient
Remember cats are wild! They save their energy for hunting. Cats aren’t going to pounce the moment they see prey (toys). Wave it around and let your cat hunt!
6. Have fun
You should enjoy your time with your cat. Stay positive and think happy thoughts about playtime. Cats pick up on our energy!
7. Play safe
Cats swallow things and get tangled easily. Always practice a safe playtime to prevent an emergency visit.
8. Proper enrichment
Enrichment is crucial for cats to stay happy indoors. Cats need to feel comfortable in their territory. Yes, your home is your cat’s territory. Feeling safe and comfortable will help your cat let loose during playtime!
