Tokyu Setagaya Line 300 Series
These wonderful trams are running in the Setagaya region of Tokyo. The unique articulated EMD (electrical multiple unit) were designed and manufactured by their sister company, Tokyu Sharyo.
The well-detailed N-scale models were manufactured by Hasegawa as a “MODEMO” brand. These green and red models were purchase over ten years ago, and DCC decoders were installed shortly after that. Recently, the illuminations were added to the headlights, taillights, and destination sign windows. DCC allows the individual ON/OFF operation for head and tail lights using F0F (Function 0 Forward) and F0R (Function 0 Reverse). For the destination sign windows, the negative line of the LED is connected to F0F and F0R with diodes. In order to enhance electrical pick up from track, additional wipers (pickup contacts) were installed on the middle articulated truck. These wipers are wired to both Cab A and Cab B, thus, this scheme provide a superior continuity in addition to the built-in inter cab contacts.
The pictures and video clips were filmed on a compact module which has an LRT track. This module and three other sections are frequently exhibited at Greenberg Train shows in the New York and Boston area.
