Inflatable kayaks offer kayak anglers shallow draft, stealth and unmatched stability in a lightweight, easy to maneuver and transport platform. But many will avoid them due to a misconception of puncture fragility. In this video, Jake and Jeff slam a crankbait repeatedly into the side tube of a Star Rival Fish inflatable kayak, trying to create a puncture in order to teach how to temporarily patch it and resume the trip. This effort to put a hole in the boat fails, and they end up jamming the hook in with a set of pliers. After that, Jeff takes less than a minute to create and apply a temporary patch with Tear Aid. This gets him through what ends up being an incredible day of smallmouth fishing on the Susquehanna River. The following day, Jeff shows how to remove the temporary patch and apply a permanent patch with inflatable material, sandpaper, an alcohol swab and Aqua Seal.
